Jefferson County Schools Responds to Report on Bus 60

This morning, November 6, a student riding Bus 60, which serves Talbott Elementary School and Jefferson Middle School, reported hearing what sounded like a gun being cocked on the school bus. The student immediately notified the bus driver, who promptly reported the information to the Transportation Department.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was notified, and deputies responded. Law enforcement officers conducted a thorough search of both the students and the bus. No firearm was found during the search.

“I want to thank the student for speaking up, our bus driver for reporting the information, and our Sheriff’s Department for their quick response and thorough search,” said Dr. Tommy Arnold, Director of Schools. “It takes all of us working together to keep our students safe.”

Jefferson County Schools remains committed to maintaining a safe environment for all students and staff through proactive communication and strong partnerships with law enforcement and the community.
