A student-led talent show held on April 10 showcased creativity, collaboration, and compassion, all while raising funds for a worthy cause. The event was organized by Lani O’Connor’s second-period Service-Learning class at Jefferson County High School, who selected the talent show as their class project with the goal of supporting Isaiah 117 House.

Under the guidance of Mrs. O’Connor, who teaches service learning at JCHS, students took full ownership of the event from start to finish. With the help of student volunteers, performers, sponsors, and community members, the class successfully raised $1,800 for the nonprofit. Service-learning students sold tickets and concessions, managed music and lighting, and worked backstage to ensure the show ran smoothly and was enjoyable for everyone in attendance.

The evening featured an impressive variety of talent, including singing, piano, dancing, guitar, kazoo, yoyo performances, and clogging, highlighting the many skills and interests of JCHS students. The event not only entertained the audience but also demonstrated the impact students can make when learning is combined with service to others.

The Service-Learning class extends a heartfelt thank you to the generous sponsors who helped make the event possible: Greater Impact Realty, Volunteer Performance, Precision Structures, and the Wrights. Their support, along with the hard work of students and volunteers, made the talent show a meaningful success and a powerful example of service in action.
